Reading the results

The results page lists every expected Starlink sighting at your location over the next 5 days.

The header

At the top you'll see the place you searched for, along with that day's Sunrise and Sunset times, and the time zone the timings are shown in:

All times displayed in your local time zone - all times are local, you do NOT need to convert them. Daylight-savings/summer/winter are already included, if required.

Good, average and poor visibility

The sightings are grouped into three lists:

  • Timings with good visibility - the best ones to watch.
  • Timings with average visibility - worth a look if there's nothing good.
  • Timings with poor visibility - faint; you might not see anything.

Each entry

Every entry shows:

  • the date and time of the sighting,
  • the satellite name (for example STARLINK-1234),
  • BRIGHT or DIM with a number in brackets - this is the brightness magnitude, and the smaller the number, the brighter it is,
  • how long the pass lasts, e.g. "for 5 mins".

Tap or click details on an entry to see which way to look: a compass direction like "Look from NW to SE", plus the elevation of the pass from the horizon (start, max, end). The exact degrees are shown on mobile.

A ±10 minute caveat

Orbit predictions aren't perfect - actual times may vary by 10 mins. Please let me know if you see Starlink using the app (or if you don't).

When nothing good is visible

If the newest Starlink isn't very visible at your location during the next 5 days, you'll see:

Sorry, the newest Starlink isn't very visible at your location during the next 5 days. This might change in the coming weeks, due to changing orbits. The older Starlinks might still be visible (please see below).

Check the average and poor visibility lists - some older chains may still be visible.
